Kev’s train travel suggestions
From experience, I’ve learned always to bring a water bottle and snacks. They come in handy when waiting for the train or if you can’t easily access the cafe car. I also ensure that I budget for the cafe car; I’ll find out more about that later.
When it comes to packing, the lighter, the better. But that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your comfort. Keep some essentials within easy reach as you travel. An extension cord, charger, and cables are crucial—pack the ones you know work! The extension cord is a lifesaver, giving easy access to a wall outlet and making your journey a breeze.
Bringing along some entertainment is always a good idea; puzzle books, e-readers, tablets, and other forms of entertainment can enhance your trip, especially if you’re traveling with a young one. I enjoy listening to music or podcasts while traveling. Remember to bring your headphones if you plan to use something you want to watch or listen to. If you need more suggestions, check out my Amtrak entertainment post.

Shuttle & Bus – From the train to where you want to go!
There are several ways to travel to, reach, and depart from the station.
Public Buses
Berkshire Regional Transit Authority provides public bus services throughout the Berkshires. For routes, schedules, and more information, contact the BRTA at (413) 499-2782.
Taxi and ride services
It would be best to pre-book a taxi to ensure availability upon arrival by train.
- County Rainbow Taxi– (413) 499-4300
- Transport The People – (800) 639-9605
- Abbott’s Limousine– (413) 243-1645
- Bianco’s Limousine – (413) 729-8294
Uber & Lyft
It’s important to note that Lyft and Uber services are not widely available in Pittsfield and throughout the Berkshires. Unless you have made prior arrangements directly with a driver, refrain from relying on these services to reach your final destination or return to the train station.
My goal is to keep these as updated as possible.
Safe Travels,
Kev
