The Great New York State Fair opens Wednesday, August 23, and runs through Labor Day, September 4, 2023.

Admission is $6 for adults and free for those 12 and younger and 65 years old and older; for more information, visit the Fair’s Ticket page.

Why Take Amtrak To The New York State Fair

Save yourself the tolls, traffic, parking fees, and gas hassle by enjoying a ride on one of the two Amtrak train lines that serve the Fair.

Amtrak Tickets, Discounts, And Where The Train Stops

You can purchase Amtrak tickets using the Amtrak website or app, Quik-Track machines at some stations, or call 1-800-USA-Rail. You can print or use your phone to show your tickets to conductors on your day of travel.

The Maple Laef and Empire Service provides train service to NYF, New York State Fair.

Both trains share many of the same stops, so you could ride one train route there and the other back when booking.

You can choose between coach and business class seating accommodations for most trains.

An outlet on Amtrak coach cars.

All the trains heading to the Fair offer free Wi-Fi for you to use.

Beware that you cannot stream with programs but surf the web, check email, and the like over Amtrak Wi-Fi.

If you get hungry, the cafe car carries goodies such as snacks, light meals, and drinks such as soda, coffee, tea, and alcohol. You can enjoy your purchases in the cafe or at your seat.

You can bring food and drink aboard, but you cannot drink alcohol you brought onboard and must eat it at your seat, not in the cafe.

If you are new to Amtrak, trains do have outlets so you can charge your phone, providing you bring a working charger and cable, an extension cord could make things easier.
