You can take Amtrak To The New York State Fair by riding the Maple Leaf or Empire Service. However, the trains usually do not stop at the fairgrounds. Don’t worry—I can help you plan your trip using Amtrak!
New York State Fair dates & tickets
The New York State Fair will run from Wednesday, August 20, to Monday, September 1, 2025.
Admission to the fair is $6 for adults and free for children 12 and younger and 65 and older. For more information, please visit the Fair’s homepage.

The trains that take you to the Fair
Two Amtrak trains can take you to the fair. These trains share many of the same stops, so you could ride one train route there and the other back when booking.

Taking these trains can save you the tolls, traffic, parking fees, and gas hassle by enjoying a ride on one of the two Amtrak train lines that serve the fair.

Buying tickets can be fast and easy! You can purchase Amtrak tickets using:
- The Amtrak website
- Amtrak app,
- Quik-Track machines at some stations
- At staffed stations
- Call 1-800-USA-Rail.
When booking, use NYF’s station code to find the fair stop.
You can print or use your phone to show your tickets to conductors on your day of travel.

Where is the New York State Fair Amtrak stop?

Both routes use similar equipment, and here are a few things you can expect.
- Accommodations
- Free Amtrak Wi-Fi.
- There is a Cafe car,
- Offers snacks, light meals, and a variety of drinks, including soda, coffee, tea, and alcoholic beverages.
- You can bring food and drink aboard, but you cannot drink the alcohol you carried onboard.
- You can charge your phone at the seat outlets, provided you bring a working charger and cable. An extension cord would make things easier.
